The
National Prescribing Centre is a health service organisation,
formed in April 1996 by the Department of Health. Its
aim is to 'promote and support high quality, cost-effective
prescribing and medicines management across the NHS,
to help improve patient care and service delivery'.
The NPC delivers a wide range of activities and support
through a coordinated work programme, comprising six
main elements:
