Medicines are an invaluable commodity. They are now such an essential component of health provision that healthcare without them would be unthinkable. However, the benefits they offer in terms of the prevention, alleviation or cure of disease come at a huge cost.

It was written for executive and non-executive directors of Health Authorities and Trusts, but will also provide essential information for consumer groups, politicians, practice managers, healthcare professionals and journalists.
