The NPC receives lots of requests from prescribing advisers and other healthcare professionals to have access to our educational materials. Clearly, this is not possible without the person using them to have a good understanding of the evidence-base from which they are derived. We are also always looking to recruit new NPC trainers who are interested and competent to deliver workshops for us, and to deliver the NPC plus local Therapeutic Workshops.

For this reason, we have created NPC Opportunity Knocks!

Every year, we provide ongoing training to the Opportunity Knocks Trainers on the eight key therapeutic topics that are the basis of the NPC plus local workshops. All the trainers have also benefited from an induction day where they are given an insight into the lessons we have learnt from our current successful cascade training programme, and looked at the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to deliver useful and effective educational sessions.

The therapeutic training is done in a series of 3x2 workshops per year. For each module, we have a workshop where the NPC Education and Development team run through the NPC educational materials in detail and a follow-up workshop where the trainers present back to the group. Feedback (usually positive) is given to each trainer both from the group and from NPC staff.
