National LDM conference, London, 16th March 2010
Our first national Local Decision Making (LDM) conference is scheduled for 16th March 2010 in London.
This event is aimed at those individuals working for the NHS who help develop and improve local decision making processes in line with the requirements of the NHS Constitution.
It is free for those working in, or for the NHS in England, around local decision making.*
The first conference will consider issues including:
- Patient and public engagement in LDM – why do it and how to make it work?
- Local decision-making groups – how do groups actually make decisions?
- Ethical frameworks – can they help to make local decisions more rational?
| From the NHS Constitution, 2009 “You have the right to expect local decisions on the funding of other drugs and treatments to be made rationally following a proper consideration of the evidence. If the local NHS decides not to fund a drug or treatment you and your doctor feel would be right for you, they will explain that decision to you”. |
* Places may be allocated (subject to demand) to those working in, or for the NHS on LDM issues, outside England but a charge will need to be applied as such activity sits outside the NPC’s funding remit.
