The NPC continued to
develop and deliver a broad-based educational programme that included the following

he NPC organised and ran a series of one-day
interactive training events covering key clinical treatment issues within six different
therapeutic areas during the year (see below). |

As part of the
evolutionary approach to delivering effective training for prescribing advisers, the NPC
further refined the therapeutic workshop formats available from September 1998. In
addition to `standard' and `strategic' events, the NPC developed an `introductory'
workshop to cater for the needs of the increasing numbers of newer prescribing advisers
emerging in primary care. Accordingly, there are now three levels of workshop provided for
each therapeutic area covered: |

The introductory and
standard workshops within each therapeutic area were repeated on several occasions in
different locations across England to enable adviser attendance from all health
authorities. The mix of Introductory and Standard workshops varied depending on demand for
each type.
