The MeReC Bulletin continued to publish 12 issues per year on a monthly basis
(see below) and distribute to its core audience of all GPs, health authorities (via each of their prescribing advisers), plus other relevant individuals and organisations throughout England (via each of their prescribing advisers), plus other
relevant individuals and organisations throughout England
During 1997, the NPC completed its review of the Bulletin's circulation and
distribution arrangements. From January 1998, distribution was improved and extended to include:
a) health authority directors of public health in England
b) all community and hospital pharmacists in England and Wales utilising The
Pharmaceutical Journal as a cost-effective and efficient direct mailing route.
Previously, copies of the MeReC Bulletin had been circulated to community pharmacies only, via
the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) mailing system, which
had increasingly been shown to be of limited effect in providing Bulletin access to
both employee and locum community pharmacists.
