The NPC is an active member of the Audit Commission's formal steering group for its
second prescribing review currently being undertaken. The final report is due for publication
during 1998.
The NPC also contributed to the development of a range of other national initiatives including:
- annual drug budget setting guidance - as a member of the NHS
Executive Prescribing Allocations Group (PAG)
- the development of a national framework for performance management
of the prescribing agenda by HAs and regional offices
- national prescribing information systems - as a member of the
NHS Executive PISEG
- prescribing information systems review - as a member of the
NHS Executive group reviewing the format/presentation of currently
available prescribing information from the PPA
- prescribing/performance indicators - as a member of the NHS
Executive Prescribing Indicators Group (PIG) developing prescribing indicators
for national application
